“Pieces Adrift”Pieces Adrift: an art show and auction featuring the trash collected from in and around the waterways of Escambia County.
Using trash to create art has been something I loved doing for the past decade. I found out about Pieces Adrift back in April and knew I wanted to be apart of this amazing show. As for my Fiancé, Christopher White, our dog Toby and I, being out in nature is our passion. We are both avid photographers and love being able to go out and photograph our beautiful landscapes of Florida. Each time we go out I make it a point to collect trash. During this project I have collected, fishing nets, gun shells, straws, bottle caps, wire, plastics, metal, foam, and SO MUCH GLASS... I was shocked by how much glass I found in the waterways of Florida. My biggest question was WHY? Why throw out your trash but why throw your very dangerous trash that could cause serious harm to those who might come in contact with it. I also used recyclables that were going to be trash. When I started teaching 3 years ago, one of my professors told me that this was the end of my Artist career. That as an educator you create every day with your students but you never really create for yourself. I have a passion for the community I live in, from the actual environment to the lives of the ones who are growing up in it. As a teacher, I want to help instill the love for the environment we live in, to help teach that we only have one world and once it is gone it is gone. I know that picking up one piece of trash is not going to save the world but producing a habit of leaving it better than you found it might. We have to do the task and let those around us see and mimic to produce the life we are wanting. Installations
My Exit show xhibition at The Art Gallery, University of West Florida in a group BFA Exhibition Synthesis, with Jasmine Bennett, Lyani La Santa, Olga da Silva. This was our final show at the University of West Florida. I created a Jane world.
Like my mind, my process is all over the place jumping from one idea to the next, my hands constantly moving. I create a world unknown to most, a world known to Jane. As I have developed my love for creating I have also found myself. The journey has been laid out for me like a map weaving the path to where I am now. These circles of repetition have become little moments in my path, each a simple line constructed to make a whole. A drawing whether it be wire, light, or fiber, it is a fluid motion of dance, of repetition, of relationship, of process, and of growth. In a constant state of learning, one seeks to find the right tool to make the perfect creation. Time has become the most important factor, always looking at different angles; I find peace in taking a moment. Most of these moments are unseen but produce the right moment to explore the next step. This journey of finding myself took a while, but through this exploration, I have encouraged myself and hopefully others to CREATE! In March of 2017 at First City Art Center in Pensacola FL(1060 N. Guillemard St. Pensacola, Florida 32501). I was asked to be a visiting Artist and exhibit an Installation. I was currently working on my exit show but I wanted to give a sneak peak into what I am working on for December! This Installation is a representation of a type of Memory I have. This Installation consists of three dead trees that are surrounded by fairy rings (mushroom rings) and 7 Butterflies with a Canopy over the top of the trees. As you walk around this piece hopefully you will be able to smell a sweet scent of lavender.

Soap
This is a new addiction that I have started! Plus my house smells great! The only thing is it take 3-4 weeks for the soap to cure. This process is the hardest :)
I was able to start this adventure with some help of a friend! My friend Yvonne had done this in the past and I started off with using her soap mold, but I also made my own! My first batch of soap that I made was Rosemary, Sage and Mint. It has made our house smell So lovely! The next batch that I made was Lavender Mint and also added some dried lavender (which kinda of looks odd but I am just trying it all out to see what it looks like) The next batch that I have made is Oatmeal Mint. This one is an exfoliant! I cant wait to try out and share my first product. Soap will be for sale SOON like in the next coming weeks!

Gifting Sculptures
This project really helped me see the joy of gifting. I am a gift giver by nature, my mother is the Best gift giver. This project helped me see that I was to do this more. Here I made some plaster casts of acorns, by some I mean I made 100's :). I then gave them to people I know, family, friends, and them I gave some to some I dont know. That was the real joy! SO I am going to try and do LOTS more of these types of Arting endeavors !

Figure Books
One of my books that I have completed so far while at University of West Florida . When I first got to UWF I was exploring the reason why I art and just my personal struggles in life. I had recent gone through a phase in my life, where the person I was with did not really help build me up with what I needed. I struggled with how I looked, how i felt about my self. I struggled to get up most days when all I wanted to do was sleep. This book was to show my self that I was beautiful. That my body was a canvas, with a single light source, I could transform the shapes, lines and curves to be more than just a body. This body of work, just like all of work, reflects the place I am in my life.

Experimentation with Paper
So as my journey begins in my Fine Art career , I was recently introduced to Jo Stealey. A paper making wonder woman, fibers artist. She was the current visiting artist at the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts her amazing creations caught my interests. Her amazing work with paper pulp was breath taking. The day my work went in front of the review board to be accepted into the program I went to Jo's paper making workshop. I was hooked, I could not wait to see what I could create with this new technique. Ready set go...
